Tonight’s reception of Through the Photographer’s Eye at Olive-Hyde was both fulfilling and energizing. I connected with fellow photographers, new members, and visitors who showed genuine interest in my work. Several attendees recognized my images — including the T-shirt design — and some asked about the stories behind my photos. Sharing my website and Instagram felt natural, and it was gratifying to see people exploring my blog entries, from photography and reflections to recipes and small life observations.
The atmosphere was warm and respectful, which made conversations easy and pleasant. I tried to mirror that same courtesy and openness, and it felt like every exchange carried a quiet sense of mutual appreciation.
During the reception, I had engaging conversations with several interesting people. Hunter shared his enthusiasm for the Hasselblad 907X, a modular medium-format camera and its unique flexibility, especially pairing older film modules with digital ones, which fascinated me despite some technical details still being unclear. It was a pleasure reconnecting with Frederick, director at Image Central and organizer of the Evolution of Transportation Exhibition, and briefly meeting Alvin, a local meetup organizer, though I may not be able to attend his events due to time constraints.

The evening itself was relaxed — with light refreshments like cheese balls, almond cakes, turkey sandwiches, olives, and green tea — creating a comfortable space for genuine conversation.
Overall, tonight reinforced how meaningful authentic engagement can be. Sharing my work alongside personal stories, listening with curiosity, and offering encouragement made the night feel whole. Art invites connection, but empathy, presence, and kindness turn those connections into lasting relationships.
